Welfare Officer

The SU Welfare Officer is there for you. They are a source of listening, information and referral. If you have any issues that are causing you stress you can go to them and they will do their best to help in whatever way possible. The Welfare Officer is trained to deal with all issues and is confidential (except where you or someone else is in danger) so there should be no hesitation in contacting them.

Admissions.

Admissions Office is there to help you register for your programme if you get a late offer, and it is where you may need to go to submit documentation. Student Support Officer

– Budgetary Advisor

This service will help UCC students manage thier money by:

–      Delivering workshops on budgeting for students, where information and practical advice will be available to you.

–      Assisting students in the completion of your grant, scholarship and Student Assistance Fund applications.

–      Providing “one to one” advice and guidance to students on managing your money.

–      Liaising with external agencies, such as MABS, Dept of Social Welfare and Protection, Local Authorities and St. Vincent de Paul, on your behalf.

CALM

Computer Aided Lifestyle Management

CALM – Computer Aided Lifestyle Management – is a new online multimedia programme available to all students and staff at UCC. It uses interactive self-help tools to identify, motivate and educate you around issues such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, stress and substance misuse. For support, information and advice on your career.

Provides a wide range of services to UCC students including a daily “drop-in” service where you can meet with an advisor for a consultation. Careers advice is offered by qualified and experienced advisors to help you work through the process of career choice. It is impartial, confidential, and it focuses on your individual needs. The Creche at UCC

Day care for your children.

UCC’s creche called ‘Creche Cois Laoi’ has capacity for eighty children. Two thirds of their places are allocated to students, with the remaining third to full time staff. Grant-holders may apply for a subsidy towards crèche costs. There is a waiting list for the crèche which is managed on a first come first served basis.

Student Health Centre

For medical care, ill health prevention and information on healthy lifestyles.

The Student Health Centre is situated in Ardpatrick beside the South Student Car Park.  It is open from 9.30am -12.30pm and 2.30pm – 4.30pm. An appointment system is in operation but because of the heavy demand for services, a triage system is operated by the nurse on duty. There is no fee to students for the consultation with the doctor on duty.
